Hollow Tree

The Hollow Tree

“Cedars are sensitive to change of time and light – sometimes their boughs flop heavy, and sometimes float, then are fairy as ferns, and then they droop, heavy as heartaches.” – Emily Carr

A Stanley Park landmark; The Hollow Tree, a Western Red Cedar, Thuja plicata, has watched over the Park for over 800 years.

British Columbia’s provincial tree, its charming display and exotic hints of clove and gaiac wood are embraced by rich vanilla – comforting and nurturing through renewal and resilience.
