Introducing Our Newest Line: Verellen

Our newest upholstery line has arrived in our North Vancouver showroom, and we're beyond excited to show you our pieces in store. Enter: Verellen. The curated collection combines modern design with traditional craftsman techniques to create unique, high-end furnishings, built to stand the test of time. Verellen offers a universal aesthetic, the highest quality materials, and a superior sitting experience unlike anything else.

More than just another furniture label, Verellen concepts, designs and creates objects of desire for the home. It's their business and passion to design treasures made to be passed down for generations to come. The story began in Tom & Sabine Verellen's hometown of Antwerp, Belgium, where the old and the new – modern and traditional – are in natural harmony. A small but mighty company, they have been inspiring and influencing the world of furniture design for 20 years, and have become an archetype of pure luxury in the most understated and sophisticated terms. There are so many reasons why we love Verellen, but we thought we'd list out top 3 reasons:

It’s their business and passion to design treasures made to be passed down for generations to come.

Built to last

Verellen upholstery is made using 8-way hand-tied coil springs and even suspension–the mark of quality seating–creating unparalleled durability and comfort. What’s more, their frames are “four-way connected”, meaning they are dowelled, glued, stapled, and screwed. This time-honoured process is an industry-standard in high-end upholstery, and guarantees the most stable frame construction. Solid maple is used for all frames which are made to order, as opposed to mass-produced in engineered wood. Above all, Verellen prides themselves on working with generations of highly trained frame and pattern makers.

Beauty and Comfort

Verellen seats have a cradling, loft cushion effect–trust us, it’s like no other sofa you’ve ever experienced. Tight seats are made up of 3 dense layers of memory foam, built to ensure the seats bounce back–no fluffing required. Verellen’s plush-down-wrapped styles provide a luxurious sit while remaining supportive. At the end of the day, Verellen is known for “sitting in, not sitting on.” Selected by Sabine herself, almost all of Verellen’s luxurious fabrics are made to order, imported from Europe to their factory in the US.

Sustainable Sourcing

It is Verellen’s pledge and commitment to manufacture upholstery from the most sustainable materials available. Their wood frames are kiln-dried from managed and sustainable forests; their glues are non-toxic, and their coils are derived from post-consumer recycled metals. From their colourways, their Belgian Linen® line fabrics offered in Oyster, Flax, Natural, and Oatmeal are eco-friendly–not dyed, and are woven from minimally processed yarns. Their leading Belgian Linen supply mill has been operating carbon neutral in Flanders, Belgium since 2013. Verellen seeks to reconcile with Mother Nature, by constantly looking at their operations and product sourcing through a magnifying lens, they don't wave moral flags, but rather take into consideration the minutiae of every aspect of manufacturing and adjust when they find something more ecological, healthier, and safer.

Located at our North Vancouver location at 1395 Pemberton Avenue, our new Verellen gallery highlights the brand's wide range of products, including their best-selling Duke Sectional, Hudson Swivel Chairs, and a variety of their stunning fabrics to touch and feel. We can't wait for you to come and experience it for yourselves!
